What is really disappointing is that even if your kid is sick right now, you have to wait for your kid's regular doctor's clinic days and hours. Doctors should be available all the time isn't it. We normally do not go to another doctor because the regular doctor knows the medical history of the patient. The regular doctor knows the medicines that have already been given for that particular illness. So it is indeed a sore point for some of the parents to have to wait until the regular doctor is available again.

But this is not the case anymore because medical practitioners have realized that medical matters, especially medical records of the patients. So, for the more advanced clinics, medical records of their patients are inputted inside a database and this database can be accessed by the doctor on duty at that time. It would not be hard for the in house doctor to check the records of the patient electronically. Although there are more technologically advanced doctors that can access your medical records via the world wide web on their PDA or mobile phone, even during a vacation!

Hopefully, all the doctors around the world will follow suit. One does not have to worry about the medical records leaking out because these databases have appropriate stringent security protesting sensitive information. The clinic, and the hospital, makes sure of that.
